Read!
Challenge 1:
You can always choose whatever you're interested in for reading, but we recommend reading from our nonfiction section. Find something about a real-life hero, either someone you've heard of before or someone completely new. Just let us know that you read for at least 2 1/2 hours and you'll complete the challenge. If you choose this as your option, select "Read" as your challenge when you're in the "submissions" part of this site.
Watch!
Challenge 2:
This week watch a movie or youtube video about a historical person or group of people. What did you learn? Some interesting movies may be "Gone With the Wind," "Spartacus," or "Schindler's List." You can find other suggestions on www.rottentomatoes.com. If you chose this challenge, make some comments about the movie you watched in the comment box on the "submissions" page and select "Watch" as your challenge.
Listen!
Challenge 3:
For this week's challenge listen to part of a speech made by a hero, such as Martin Luther King's, "I Have a Dream," speech or JFK's inaugural address. Choose the "Listen" challenge and tell us about the speech in the comment box of the "submissions" page of this site.
Do!
Challenge 4:
Attend the "Local Heroes" program at the library on Monday at 2:00 or visit the POW Museum to learn about our local history. Choose the "Do" challenge on the "submissions" page of this site and tell us about what you learned in the comment box.
