Once upon a time...it was one dark, rainy night at the library. There was a loud thump in the youth area. I ran to see what it was, but it was so dark I ran into the chair and fell on the ground. The thump sound was coming closer to me. The thump sound was a monster's heartbeat. Now, I'm not sure which is louder, the monster's heartbeat or my own. I tried to scramble to my feet, but I slipped and fell again. The thumping was getting louder. I heard a voice say, "Got you!" But it was just my little brother in his zombie costume. Then my brother's face went pale. He screamed, "There is a real zombie!" and ran. "This seems like a book," I said.It was really scary. What kind of a day is this, it's also veeerrry horrirfying. It was for me, but not for everyone else. I really can't believe they aren't scared. "Wow!" What a crazy story so far, huh? Well, if you want to know more, here you go everyone. Then another big thump. It sounded like a stack of books. then a dark shadow came towards me. It was the librarian. She had a devilish grin and seemed to look right through me. I wasn't sure whether to scream or start running to get out of the library as fast as I could. Oh, clumsy me, as I tried to run out of the library, I slipped on some books. I started to look all around me, but it was too dark. The thumping was getting louder. "Aaaa!" I said. "Scary!" I ran as fast as I could! "Run!" I shouted. But it was a cute cat, then the cat turned to a monster! "Aaaa!" I said. Then an old man came and left. Then my friend, Marissa, came. "Hey!" said Marissa. Then the vampire came. Don't suck my blood please. "Okay!" He flew off. I then woke up from a bad dream! The End! And the cat ran away.
Our second story also started, Once upon a time...on Halloween night, we were walking to a Halloween Party at our school. We had to go into the deep, dark woods to get to the school. We were talking and laughing when all of a sudden one of my friends stopped. "What's wrong?" we asked. "There's a giant pool of chocolate tight here!" he exclaimed. "What!?!?" "That is weird." I said. "Not as weird as the gremlins swimming in it!" I said. "Look...they all have tiny Halloween masks on!"
It would have been fun for the second story to have time to develop some more, but it was a fun week of creative writing in celebration of "Reading for the fun of it."
