I have always enjoyed a good apocalyptic story, and authors keep providing them. After the Red Rain by Barry Lyga is set in a future where America has been devastated and the people are forced to live in mega-cities and there is fear of the return of the 'Red Rain' that was responsible for the deaths of millions of people. Every apocalyptic book needs a conspiracy and a cause to fight for, I'm looking forward to reading about Deedra and Rose as they make discoveries that could save the planet.
An addition to the Steam Punk genre, Rebel Mechanics: All Is Fair in Love and Revolution by Shanna Swendson poses a world where British magic has prevented the revolution from ever taking place. But, as the industrial revolution blossoms, an underground rebellion brews among the colonists.
Material Girls by Elaine Dimopoulos gives us another type of revolution. Our protagonists have played a big part in driving the fashion industry, but as they lose position in the industry, they step out to create their own style. Their style is a revolution that says we won't be controlled by fashion and consumption - we are going to think for ourselves.
I hope you have a list of books that you want to read and I hope that list is always growing.
