The first book today is Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz. It is the first in the Alex Rider series. This book introduces us to Alex who has lost his father to an accident that he believes was murder, but why? Alex has to find out, and his quest for the truth is just the start of a new way of life full of adventure.
One of the first real action books that I ever read was The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey. From page one, I couldn't hardly put it down. Alfred Kropp is just a normal teen dealing with normal teen insecurities, but he has a hidden background that goes back to the Knights of the Round Table. When Alfred gets his hands on Excalibur, all kinds of things start to happen.
Eoin Colfer is the author of the Artemis Fowl series, and he strikes again with The Reluctant Assassin. This is book one in the W.A.R.P. series. W.A.R.P. stands for Witness Anonymous Relocation Program. What better place to hide a witness than in the past, but what happens when you take the future to the past and it gets left there? This book has our protagonists warping through time to keep history from changing.
The final book that I will mention today is Dormia by Jake Halpern. Dormia mixes action with fantasy. The story has a modern setting, but there is a parallel world that requires the assistance of a young man. As he discovers his purpose, it leads him on a cross country adventure with a mix of real and imaginary creatures that will keep you reading.
If you haven't read an action and adventure story, you might try one. They are really fun.
