The first is Time Riders by Alex Scarrow. This is a book of second chances. The characters in this book are pulled from a death situation to another dimension where they are given the job of preserving the future. They watch for changes in the present that are a result of an altered history and travel back in time to try to correct the anomaly that is changing the future. You get a dose of history along with lots of adventure.
Is there a mysterious force out there protecting the future? That's the premise of I Become Shadow by Joe Shine. An organization called FATE knows who the next president will be, they know who will play a significant role in future economics, they know the future. It is their job to shadow important people and see them reach their fate.
What might happen if an individual was transported to the past and decided to take advantage of their knowledge of the future? In W.A.R.P.: The Reluctant Assassin by Eoin Colfer, the government set up a witness protection program that hid witnesses in the past. This would work perfectly, except that one of the witnesses took advantage of his position and advanced technological knowledge and as a result, the future is changing.
