Alex Rider: Stormbreaker is written by Anthony Horowitz. This is the start of an adventure series filled with spies and danger and fast paced excitement. When Alex Rider finds out that his uncle died in an automobile accident, he is not content to believe it was an accident. As he pursues his doubts, he discovers a life that he was being prepared for without even knowing it. His uncle was much more than the business man he portrayed on the surface. For the reader who can't put this one down, there is lots more with ten volumes to keep them turning the pages.
Another story that keeps readers coming back is Maximum Ride by James Patterson. This adventure follows the lives of six kids that are 98% human and 2% bird. Having grown up in a lab environment, they find themselves free and racing for their lives. In our superhero culture with mutants being a common theme, this series has been entertaining readers since 2005. Volume 9 came out in 2015.
Both of these series also draw a crowd for the graphic novels. Volumes continue to be added as artists adapt the story to picture form. For the movie goer, Stormbreaker came out in 2006 and Maximum Ride was 2016.
