It started with Cinder the cyborg that thought she was an unloved orphan on Earth. As you read the book, you find out how many people were willing to give their life to keep her alive. It is a fairy tale Cinderella story, but the end is still to be revealed.
Next came Scarlet. If you haven't realized the connection, Scarlet is Red Riding Hood. This story has the basket of goodies, the grandmother, and the wolf. It also has adventure and a fight for what is right.
Cress is our damsel who has been locked up in the tower. In this case, the tower is a satellite and Cress is a computer wiz. Our 'Rapunzel' has been living in the satellite and monitoring Earth. But, she is an unwilling participant in the Lunar Queen Levana's plans. When she is set free by Cinder, Scarlet and a couple of other friends a new plan begins to emerge that could bring revolution on Luna.
To help us understand the history behind the Chronicles, Marissa Meyer tucked an extra book into the series. Fairest: Levana's Story fills in the gaps so that we know how Levana became the Queen that she is. It also sets us up for the final book in the series.
Winter is the beloved Princess. She is also Snow White. She is the 'fairest of them all'. She has determined that she will never be like Levana. She will never use her gift to control someone, and it is driving her insane.
Will Cinder ever sit on the throne as the rightful Queen of Luna? Will Winter be allowed to love and live in freedom of Levana's control? Will the revolution set the people free from oppression? Will there be a happily ever after? I want there to be.
