The first book is about a young man who nearly lost his life in an automobile accident. It is the book Iron Heart: The True Story of How I Came Back from the Dead by Brian Boyle. Brian was a promising high school athlete when his life was changed forever. The accident left him broken and barely alive, but his will and determination helped him to overcome and triumph. This book will keep you reading from beginning to end.
Next on my list is a book about a young man who came from Ethiopia, was adopted and raised by Swedish parents, and has grown to international fame. This is the story of Marcus Samuelsson. His book is titled, Yes, Chef. If you enjoy a rags to riches story, this qualifies. Having come from a very poor country and challenged to make something of himself, Marcus Samuelsson has done just that. He will inspire the reader to follow their dreams.
My final book today is one that I haven't read yet, but it is a memoir of a girl who has triumphed over bullying. Positive by Paige Rawl is her journey of living with HIV, finding hope, and deciding to use her experience to change the world. She was a normal middle school age girl when she was diagnosed as HIV positive, having been born with the disease made no difference to the other students who chose to bully. When her life seemed to be full of negatives, she chose to be positive and overcome.
We are surrounded by real life heroes. Take time to notice and be inspired.
