Royals by Rachel Hawkins allows the reader a glimpse into the lives of the monarchy. But, more than that, it allows us a glimpse into the behind the scenes. What the public sees and what is the truth are not always the same. Sometimes there is no choice, life is dictated and choice is left behind. This book is fiction, but it's easy to believe that this scenario could actually happen. At the same time, it's hard to believe that this world is still alive and well in the Twenty-first century. This is a very fun book that might even leave you thinking.
I don't pay real close attention to the stories about royalty and weddings and scandals, but I know some who stay up to watch the royal weddings and really enjoy keeping up with the lives of the rich and famous. I do, however, read some of the headlines and think about how the media can drive the story and affect how the public views a person. So, this week I am reading about Kings and Queens and Princes and Princesses and scandals.
