The first is How to Ruin A Summer Vacation by Simone Elkeles. This is the first in a series and is thoroughly entertaining. Our protagonist has plans for her summer when her father announces that he is sending her to spend the summer with her grandmother - in Israel. Her world is turned upside down as she meets relatives for the first time, learns about another culture, and finds her way home.
The next book is Breathing by Cheryl Renee Herbsman. Savannah's mother would do anything to protect her daughter. Savannah suffers from severe asthma and her mother has always sheltered her because of it. This is a story about Savannah learning how to live and breathe as she experiences more of life than ever before.
The final book on my list for today is Just Your Average Princess by Kristina Springer. Summer is the season of princesses as county fairs and local groups choose the one who will represent them for the next year. Jamie is sure that this is her year to win the title of Pumpkin Princess. That is until her famous cousin shows up from Hollywood. Lighthearted fun for the reader as the characters learn about the strength of family.
