This first book is extra special because it is a collection of holiday stories. It's easy to find Christmas stories in adult fiction and children's fiction. It's much more unusual to find Christmas stories in Young Adult fiction. So, when I came across this collection it was a natural addition. My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories edited by Stephanie Perkins includes stories by twelve well known authors. Rainbow Rowell offers a story for News Years Eve called, "Midnight." David Levithan has a short story entitled, "Your Temporary Santa." Ally Carter writes, "Star of Bethlehem." So, as we are headed toward the holiday season, you might try My True Love Gave to Me.
Our newest collection of short stories is entitled, Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy and is edited by Ameriie. This book takes a fresh look at the villains of literature. I think of the movie, "Maleficent," where we get to see some of the background history and actually start to like the evil queen. Then, I think of this book. Thirteen well known authors have worked together to help us understand who the villains are and what made them evil. Not such a far-fetched story line when we see the bad guy evaluated for motive. This book will lend insight into such characters as; Medusa, Moriarty, and the giant from "Jack and the Beanstalk."
