So, which books should we be reading in anticipation of the next big screen release? Coming out on August 15th is The Giver by Lois Lowry. The Giver was first published in 1993 and portrays a perfect society until someone questions the definition of perfect. Following The Giver, comes the September 19th release of James Dashner's, The Maze Runner. This book finds our characters stuck in a maze with time running out.
Looking down the road even farther, several more YA books are heading toward the box office; Rick Yancey's The 5th Wave, If I Stay by Gayle Forman, Paper Towns by John Green, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. Many of these books have found there way onto award lists, and all of them can be found on our library shelves.
