The first book I want to mention is Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. Etta Spencer is an accomplished violinists and is preparing for a big performance when her life is dramatically altered. Not only does the performance not take place, but she is transported through time and finds herself on a ship in the middle of the ocean. Etta's mother has been keeping a very important secret. A secret that could have prepared Etta for what was coming. This is an adventure that spans time and space as a race for an important object ensues.
For fans of The Lunar Chronicles, Marissa Meyer has written Heartless. Mixing fairy tales with the future seems to work for Meyer as she twists the story of Wonderland and the Queen of Hearts. Catherine is expected to become the next queen, but she has other ideas. She loves to bake and would like to have her own shop. When she falls in love with someone other than the king, what will everyone think? What will her parents do? I love twisted fairly tales and I hope you will enjoy this one too.
There are 26 books on this years nomination list. The fun thing about Teens Top Ten is that teens get to vote for the winners. The voting takes place in the fall, with the announcement of the Top Ten in October during Teen Read Week. So, you can start reading and be ready to vote in the fall.
