The first book that I'll mention is The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion by Amy Astley. This book tries to answer reader's questions about all aspects of the fashion industry - from design to hair and makeup to modeling to photography to editing. Some of those questions include: How do I get an internship at a magazine? I want to work in fashion, what should I major in in college? I'm a sophomore in high school and live in the Midwest; do I have to move to New York City to get a job in fashion? If you have an interest in the fashion industry, this could give some good insight into how to get started.
The Fashion Designer's Resource Book by Samata Angel is for those who have more than just a passing interest in the design field. It includes information about developing your own style and marketing it within a competitive industry. It also highlights which countries are leaders in fashion and some of the top fashion design schools in the world.
The final book that I want to mention is DIY Fashion Shoot Book: We Are Photo Girls by Emily Stein and Celia Willis. This book focuses on fashion through the eye of the camera. It leads the reader through thinking about the story and mood being created through photography to the editing that creates the final product. This book gives lots of practical advice to the beginning fashion photographer.
